Cake Poker, which started becoming a major player online in late 2006, is an independent poker room and network, that also hosts many skins, and is home to some of the biggest online sportsbooks. Cake boasts many positives for the poker player, and the sportsbooks being members of the Cake Network is a big one. Sportsbooks breed fish, and the fish are what makes poker players come back and play again and again. Cake Poker also has a very strong design and marketing department, as evidenced by their Gold Cards promotions, where players can collect gold cards for playing at Cake and exchange for the chance to win money. This concept has been copied from the very successful MMORPG video game genre, and is just one of the many methods Cake uses to encourages the players to play more. Cake also offers a variety of freerolls, guaranteed money tournaments, frequent reload bonuses and an attractive deposit bonus.
The only negative at Cake Poker at the moment is the software. The software has improved greatly since I began promoting Cake in 2006, but still has numerous problems, including random system beeps and software lag and freezing. Fixing all these problems is Cakes number one priority, and they have did an excellent job doing just that in the last year, and I expect it to be running very smoothly in the near future. The software graphics are very similar to Party Poker, except with improvements like the ability to choose your own avatar. The network also does not allow the use of software like PokerACE and Pokertracker on it, which is a big plus when it comes to bringing in new players and player retention. Another advantage is that with Cake still being relatively new compared to the likes of Pokerstars, there is a stronger chance that your website visitors, especially Americans, don’t have an account at Cake Poker yet.
Cake Pokers support is another major positive for the network. Unlike some poker rooms, Cake doesn’t outsource it’s support, so players won’t get formulated e-mails(which are often incorrect) to any enquiries; they’ll get a real person responding with a unique and accurate response to any queries players have. Cake Poker are also very good with communications, sending out newsletters to players at least bi-weekly.
Another major positive to Cake Poker is their affiliate department, in particular the high experienced, and always excellent Shenaz Bedi. Older affiliates should know Shenaz from the excellent work she has did at Bodog and Absolute, and she’s been absolutely phenomenal since taking over the Cake Poker affiliate department. Words really can’t describe the service that she and the small department provide, compared to bigger poker rooms with bigger affiliate departments. I can e-mail Party Poker or Pokerstars with a simple request and not get a response for over 24 hours. Yet I’ll e-mail Shenaz with a detailed request that I expect will take up to two days to get fully dealt with, and will often get a response in under an hour. When dealing with Shenaz, you often get the impression that she’s almost at your beck and call – just sitting there waiting to provide excellent, thorough support to any and all affiliates. Having been in this industry a long time and dealt with over 200 affiliate departments, I can tell you this is an extremely rare feeling, and leaves me more motivated than ever to keep promoting Cake.
I could go on and on about why you should promote Cake Poker, but I’m sure I’ve said more than enough. Cake Poker are the best up and coming poker room around, and are my favourite poker room to promote.
